A few trips to a few cemeteries …

Over the past several days, we traveled to several cemeteries – in part to decorate graves; in part to pay our respect. Each year it gets a little harder to plant flowers. This year we chose to take baskets or pots that were already planted.

We spent a whole day in the Janesville-Waseca-Mankato area. This is the cemetery at Freedom church near Janesville, MN. This is the stone and burial place for Grammy and Pa Becker. (Becker relatives)
This is the grave of my husband ‘s Uncle Fred’s first wife, Marie. A stone for her baby is near by. Marie died in childbirth along with the baby. (Freedom cemetery) (Braun relatives)
This is the grave of Wilhelm Braun, my husband’s grandfather. (Freedom cemetery)
(Braun relatives)
This is the grave of Henrietta Benkendorf, sister of Augusta Braun Penn (and husband Jim’s aunt). Henrietta came to the states from Germany with Augusta Penn- shown below. (Freedom Cemetery) (Braun relatives)
This is the grave of the Penn’s – Augusta is Jim’s grandmother; Gus his step-grandfather at the cemetery in Smith’s Mill. Jim says he was Grandma Penn’s favorite grandson but he was a three-year old boy when she died. (Braun relatives)

We also went to local cemeteries.

This is the gravesite of Andrew and Inga Olin in Gerdin Cemetery, Isanti County. They are my great-grandparents. (Olene relatives)
This is the gravesite of my parents, Galen and Shirley Olene, in Lakeside Cemetery, Isanti County.
This is the gravesite of our daughters, Renee and Jodi Braun, at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Princeton.
This is the gravesite of Jim’s parents, Art and Edna, at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Princeton.

We also did a litte sight-seeing as part of our cemetery trips. I took a lot of photos that I will share with you in the near future.

Thanks for reading! I hope you return.
